To start a forum battle you can either PM or IM a friend and decide you will battle or just post asking if anyone would like to battle. Once you've gotten an opponent you may post a thread stating your rules (1 on 1, 3 on 4 etc.) and which Pokémon you'll use first. After that the battle will go as it would on an IM. (read the Battling thread in Rules/Info if you're lost)
